Maintenance Engineer
We have a brand-new opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical bias, to join a highly established printing company in the Cambridgeshire area.
As a Maintenance Engineer you will be joining a dynamic team responsible for ensuring that all equipment and systems operate at peak performance. This is a hands-on role that requires strong mechanical skills, a good understanding of electrical systems, and an ability to work from drawings and plans. You will have the opportunity to lead the maintenance team and be involved in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, as well as working with equipment service contractors when needed.
Whilst based in the UK, the position will also involve occasional visits to our Berlin facility to undertake maintenance tasks there. Job Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians to ensure timely completion of tasks and continuous improvement of maintenance operations
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program that reduces downtime, increases equipment reliability, and improves overall efficiency
- Research and recommend equipment upgrades and modifications to improve performance, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance safety
- Oversee maintenance projects and work with contractors to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and budget requirements
- Contribute to the development of maintenance policies and procedures, and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Investigate and troubleshoot equipment failures and develop solutions to prevent reoccurrence
- Manage and track maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and work order history
- Deal with external suppliers of parts and the machine manufacturers to ensure machines are repaired in a timely manner
- Collaborate with production, quality, and safety departments to ensure equipment meets operational requirements and regulatory compliance
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and stay up-to-date with advances in technology, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment, with the ability to strip and reassemble machinery
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills with a relevant engineering qualification, such as an ONC/OND/HNC or an Electrical/Mechanical qualification
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical and analytical approach to troubleshooting equipment issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of current environmental and health and safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance
- Experience with welding and fabrication and the ability to operate hand and power tools
- Experience with cooling, chiller and air systems, single and 3 phase electrical systems, pneumatics and hydraulic systems
