PROJECT BUYER (37.5 hrs/week)   Location: Chatteris  

Salary: £35,000-£40,000              Start: Immediate start

Recruit Mint are looking for a Project Buyer for our engineering and manufacturing client based in the Chatteris area.

The ideal candidate for the role will have worked in a similar sector with relevant sector knowledge and experience with managing negotiations with project suppliers to meet objectives related to cost. Duties in the role would include: 

• To ensure optimised and prioritised ‘just in time’ material and services supply.
• Optimisation of cost and cash controls to support the broader business needs.
• Proactively review systems and procedures, making recommendations for improvement and implementing changes.
• Align purchasing role activities to achieve operational objectives, timelines and budgets.
• Take the lead in securing quality suppliers of materials, components and indirect spend covering technical compliance, price, delivery and quality targets to obtain the optimised benefit for the company.
• Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule, and quality.
• Hold responsibility for development and maintenance of suitable KPIs.
• Ensure procurement best practice is always followed.
• Manage Approved Supplier Base by developing, maintaining, and developing strong relationships.
• Measure and monitor supplier performance against, including milestone targets, measuring cost against budget, quality and on-time delivery.
• Optimise and prioritise ‘just in time’ material and services supply in support of engineering and operations.
• Optimise cost and cash controls to support the business needs.
• Undertaking purchase ordering from the company ERP system
